RE: Washing RV with car wash and lamp oil?

Even if lamp oil works I would worry that continued use of it would cause the adhesive on the vinyl stickers to fail and cause them to start peeling.

RE: Parking Travel Trailer in Yard

I think moisture needs to be considered. I have stored old vehicles outside, some with plastic underneath and some on bare ground. The vehicles that sat on the bare ground had more rust on the undercarriage. I am thinking of putting down a couple of layers of heavy black plastic to cover an area slightly larger that the TT and then covering that with crushed gravel. And then pack the gravel. Yeah I'll get some holes in the plastic but it should do the job, namely keeping moisture from seeping up under the TT.

RE: Electrical Question

You mentioned a drop cord. If you are using one it may be that it is not heavy enough. Most drop cords that we use around the yard, etc., are the orange ones with wire gauges of 14, 16, or even 18. That is not heavy enough to run you TT air. I would suggest 10 gauge, or 12 at the very most. As previously suggested you need more that a 15 amp house circuit to handle the load. You might get by with 20 but it's "iffy".

RE: Quick Question-Maxx Air Vent Covers

My covers are not Maxx Air but are very similar, got them at Camping World. The vents have been open since the covers were installed and never had a problem, until last week. The TT is parked outside and faces North because most of the storms we get come from the North or West. Last week a storm came in from the south. It was a powerful one, lots of wind. Our neighbor lost half the roof from his barn. We got about one and one-half inches of rain. That rain had to be blowing straight at the cover openings and yes, we got a small amount of water in thru the vents. It was negligible and wiped up with a towel. I was impressed because I expected the trailer to be very wet inside. After seeing that I will never worry about having the vents open.

RE: Assistance with Backing

Mosseater has a very good point. Too Slow and you just seem to lose any sense of where you are going. But, too fast and you are there before your senses know it.

What size transmission cooler

My TV is a 2003 Silverado, 5.3 liter, 3.42 rearend. It does not have the tow package. It does have a tow/haul mode switch. I tow a Trailsport TS25S, published GVWR is 5880. I doubt that I will ever be over 4700-4800 lbs. I am thinking it would be a good idea to add a Transmission Cooler because most of my towing will be in Texas which gets very hot during summer. First, is this a good idea or not a good idea. I have noticed that there are different sizes of coolers. If this is a good idea does anyone know what size I should install, or is size that important? Thanks for any inputs or advice.

RE: Little help PLEASE...

Jim&Peg are on track. It is probably hidden somewhere inside the TT, most likely near the water heater. On my trailer I have to remove a screwed on panel behind the toilet to get to it.

RE: Deer Whistle - Do they work or Not

one might conclude that if the whistles really work there are an awful lot of deaf deer out there.

RE: What an Idiot I must be

I have driven the left trailer wheels through the ditch by my drive causing the left stabilizer jack to dig a nice furrow. Next I pulled under a tree without thinking about low branches. No real damage from either but then there's always next time. Oh Yeah, did the above while trying to learn to tow the new TT. I haven't even been camping yet.

RE: Has anybody added an HDTV antenna yet?

Although he could have been a little more diplomatic about it, sch911 is correct. We recently upgraded to an HDTV in our house and are using an antenna that is about 10 years old. Reception is great. Just hook up your new TV to your existing connection and have fun.

RE: where do you put the pooch?

Hi malamuterver, I had to laugh at this one. Many years ago, when the kids were small, we moved across country a couple of times. I took the back seat out of the car, built a small platform complete with two small legs, padded it with 6 inches of foam and covered it with a sheet. Worked great for the kids, should work for your dog. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
